He is blessed with eyes the pierce the soul and a gift of debate. Despite his calm and collected appearance lies an insecurity and a desire to be liked. Often, Lucius feels like he knows a many people, but knows none really well. Earning his trust takes time, but once it is earned, Lucius is loyal to the death. He will be jovial and kind and do whatever he can to help those he loves. Since these people are few and far between, he channels his loneliness into ambition and a desire to stay ahead. A desire that even he knows will be his undoing. First Impression: Chances are that if you have read the Daily Prophet you know something about the wealthy sociality, Lucius Malfoy. When you first meet him, you will come to see that most of what they write is correct at first glance. This is because it takes a while for Lucius to get past his protective exterior to see his true personality. Appearance: Standing a few inches shy of six feet, Lucius is blessed with his mother’s blue eyes and his father’s flaxen hair. Both match perfect against his creamy white skin. Additionally, Lucius has the traditional trait of a prominent triangular nose and a lower lip that is slightly larger than the top. Manner of Dress: Tall and thin with long hair, Lucius is always dressed in the finest wares. He was always taught that perception in everything, something that he knows is particularly important when it comes to dressing. Finally, Lucius has a long cane with a snake head, a family heirloom from his great-great-great-great grandfather Celestius Draconus Malfoy. Manner of Speech: Lucius speaks slowly and quietly, but still commands a presence in a room. As such, when he raises his voice everyone takes notice. Malfoy is known for his ability to twist people’s words and convince them of their faults with minimal effort. As such, he has been a great asset to the Dark Lord. History: The history of Lucius Malfoy begins five years before his blessed birth when Abraxas Scorpius Malfoy married Lidia Von Dung. Abraxas was well-known through out the wizarding world and Lidia came from a pureblood German family whose name was not as recognized, but whose treasury was massive and to be left to their only daughter. Additionally, Lidia was known to have the most amazing sapphire eyes, said to pierce whomever she liked. At first the marriage was merely out of convenience, but it soon became love as they expected their first child. From the beginning, the pregnancy was rough and Lidia was ordered by the mediwitches to spend her last three months in bed. At last on the ides of march, the couple welcomed Lucius into the world. The boy was blessed with his mother’s eyes and his father’s hair. Like the pregnancy, the birth had been hard on Lucius’ mother and she was warned to not get pregnant again since she would not survive the birth. Lucius’ life was pleasant; he was showered with toys and ate the best food galleons could buy. He attended parties with his parents and soon grew accustomed to the finer things in life. He had a happy childhood, until a week before his fourth birthday. Lidia found herself in a tricky situation, she was pregnant once more. In those days birth control potions were still dangerous and aborting the child was still considered taboo. Desperate to save her own life, Lidia threw herself down the grand staircase of the Malfoy Manor landing with a loud thud. Lucius, upon hearing the noise ran out of his room to see what happened. He shrieked as he saw his mother laying on the floor, her neck broken. Abraxas soon followed. Stunned and confused his father told the boy, “an elf must have tripped her”. Whether a conscious thought or said out of shock and disbelief, Lucius would never know. From then on he knew, but one thing houseelves were not to be trusted. The funeral came to pass and Lucius never spoke of his mother again. His father grew distant, unable to stare at his son, whose eyes reminded him so much of Lidia. The manor grew silent and Lucius grew older. At last he was off to Hogwarts. Once there he was sorted into Slytherin, the house that Malfoy’s had belonged since the time of “Salazar Slytherin himself” (according to Abraxas). He became a Prefect and later a Head Boy while simultaneously excelling at charms, potions, and defense against the dark arts. His grades were slightly above average, but nothing noteworthy. While at school, he befriended the Lestranges, Blacks, Carrows, Rosiers, and the Yaxleys, all of whom would become important to him later in life. While at school he had several relationships, none of which were considered noteworthy until he spotted Narcissa Black. She was everything he wanted. A week before graduation, Abraxas took ill and quickly went from bad to worse. The day after Lucius arrived home from Hogwarts he got news that he had inherited all that the Malfoy name had to offer. The mansion was lonely and the riches brought him nothing. Lucius craved a sense of belonging, something Bellatrix offered in the form of service to the Dark Lord. Agreeing with his master’s stance on the supremacy of purebloods, Lucius took the mark and never looked back.
